I have just kicked off the season with the Lancashire Sports Horse Breeding North West Show, held at Myerscough. We took along two horses both owned by Isabella Mears. GRACEFULL MONARCH, (Grace) a 10yo who hasn’t done a great deal to date and THE CANDIDATE (Rolo) a 5yo small hunter.

Grace did really well at the show, coming 4th in the Small Hack Class and winning the Intermediate Show Riding Type, qualifying us for HOYS 2017. It was the very first outing for Rolo who was very green but behaved amazingly well and I’m really excited for the future of this horse.

I have recently bought a new horse for Isabella, a 4yo large hack called Annaghkeen Euphoria, who will start showing later in the season. We plan to get the young horses out to a couple more shows to give them more experience with travelling, noise and crowds to prepare them for the Royal Windsor Show in May.

I feed my horses Saracen Show Improver, which is great for their condition, muscle tone and top-line along with Equi-Jewel which adds that additional gloss, condition and energy without blowing their brains!

I am always looking out for new horses for clients and I’m at Goresbridge Horse Sales in Ireland soon, fingers crossed, I’ll come back with a beauty or 2.

In August I’ll be judging at The Royal Dublin Show, something I love being a part of and seeing all the horses and riders competing.
