As I sit here on this wet weekend planning my show season having just come back from a warm, but sometimes wet tour in Portugal I am sure the seasons are moulding into one! I was lucky to miss the “Beast from the East” but all this wet weather doesn’t help with the planning as I’m sure you’re in the same boat.

The tour in Portugal did exactly what I hoped which was to get the older horses up and running along with giving me a chance to get to know some of the new horses better in the ring.

Darya I Nur (aka Twinkle) was having her first jumps in the ring for over 8 months and we built her up to jumping a World Ranking class at the end of the tour. Smirnov (aka Smurf ) jumped the World Ranking classes and the Grand Prix and was placed in most of them which was fantastic. Cadenza (aka Titch) is a new boy on the block and I was pleased with his progress being placed in the 1.40’s and jumping a World Ranking class... Alicerova (aka Rosie) was placed in the 7yr olds most weeks and jumped brilliantly in the 7yr old final which was also a World Ranking class at 1.45. The two 5yr olds Cantona and Isabeau W jumped lots of clear round with numerous equal 1sts and placings.

All the horses performed fantastically well and keep their stamina and performance levels up till the end thanks to the top feed of Saracen Horse Feeds. I can’t speak highly enough of how their feed keeps my horses at peak performance.

We will be off in the near future to a couple of shows in France and then probably Suffolk county along with some more shows both here and abroad.

I hope everybody has a fantastic season and good luck!
