At 17 years old we felt it was time for Percy to enjoy a happy retirement. Often deemed one of the best cross country horses on the circuit, I believe there is no cross country course we couldn’t tackle together. I am immensely proud of all we have achieved together by putting my career on the map and making us a combination to watch at every event, what a journey it has been.
2014 Competition Update
It is such a good feeling to be out competing again and all the horses really enjoyed getting the season underway at Isleham on March 1st after Tweseldown was cancelled – let’s hope the rain stays away!
We had a successful day at Great Witchingham, strong dressage tests for Easy Target, who finished 6th in the Advanced Intermediate class after a fantastic double clear, and West Side, who particularly impressed with a strong score of 22.7 in the Open Intermediate class to finish 9th.
West Side is a new ride for me in 2014 and looking to be an exciting prospect for the season ahead, I have high hopes for him in the CIC*** at Burnham Market next month. The going was great at Great Witchingham and my thanks go out to the organisers for such a friendly, well run event. At Goring Heath on March 29th, two of my up and coming horses, Easy Done and Easy Decision, really came into their own and I won both of the Saturday Novice classes! They both performed well in the dressage and made the cross country feel easy, pleasing me and their owners immensely.
Next up for the team is Belton International Horse Trials, with 3 horses in the CIC*** it is likely to be quite a busy day! Belton will be a warm up round for Badminton with Easy Target whose entry acceptance was confirmed last week. Last year he finished a respectable 31st with a clear cross country at his first time round the legendary course, fingers crossed for a safe and successful round so we can do even better this year.
