Director of Thoroughbred Nutrition – T: +44 (0)7973 802 210
Polly specialises in Thoroughbred nutrition and is involved with some of the most successful stud farms and racing yards in the UK and Europe. In her 30 years at Saracen, she has overseen countless Classic winners, Sales Toppers and Stakes performers that have gone on to become elite stallions and broodmares. The thoroughbred industry is her way of life and is something she enjoys and is fascinated by in equal measure. If there is a way to help a horse with some clever nutrition, she will do her best to find it.

Thoroughbred Specialist - North – T: +44 (0)7521 777 634
Robert is extremely passionate about horseracing having grown up in a racing environment. He rode as an amateur, then later as a conditional jockey until injury ended his riding career. He rode for a number of leading National Hunt trainers and gained valuable knowledge of the industry. He has his own yard in Middleham, so is based in the heart of Yorkshire racing and the North. Robert has been a long-time supporter of Saracen, feeding it to his own horses, so he fully understands the quality and benefits of the feeds and services.

Independent European Thoroughbred Consultant – T: +33 (0)676 178 899
Daniela works with Saracen as an independent Thoroughbred and Sports Horse Consultant. She holds a BSc in Equine Science and Business Management and a trainer’s licence. She has spent nearly all of her life working within the thoroughbred breeding and racing industry in Germany, managing farms such as Gestüt Ammerland and Gestüt Gorlsdorf. She now lives in Normandy, in the heart of the French thoroughbred breeding industry. Her enthusiasm and commitment to providing her clients with practical and nutritional support is greatly valued.

During this time, she saw how some of best in the business operate and worked closely with many of their most prolific horses. Hannah is dedicated to getting the best out of every horse at every level and is committed to finding practical nutritional solutions that are based on the latest scientific findings.

Technical Nutrition Coordinator – T: +44 (0)1622 718 487
Iona is the ultimate enthusiast in applying the latest advances in equine nutritional research to the feed industry. After completing her BSc and MSc in Equine Science in 2023, Iona moved to America for a year-long internship with KER. Over that year, she was located in two 'horse capitals of the world' - Lexington, Kentucky, and Ocala, Florida - where she was involved in 12 equine nutrition and exercise physiology research projects. Iona is part of the Saracen Nutrition team, aiming to bridge the gap between scientific research and industry practice.

We’re proud to have partnered with these exceptional professionals for more than 25 years. Each is a recognised expert in their field and has played a vital role in shaping our specialist Thoroughbred business — adding depth, credibility, and true distinction to the expertise and resources we provide.
President/Founder of Kentucky Equine Research
Dr. Pagan received his B.S.A degree from Arkansas University, and his M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Equine Nutrition and Exercise Physiology from Cornell University. He formed Kentucky Equine Research (KER) in 1988 as an international research, consulting and product development company dealing in equine nutrition and sports medicine. Through Joe's vision and his commitment to equine science, KER is known as the World Leader, and a global authority, in Equine Nutrition. Our alliance has been a game-changer for Saracen. The contribution Joe has made to the greater understanding of equine nutrition internationally is truly remarkable.

Vice President at Hallway Feeds
Lee's father, Robert Hall Jr., founded Hallway Feeds in 1964 as a family-owned and operated business, so we had much in common when we formed our manufacturing partnership in 2000. Hallway Feeds are well-known around the world and are recognised for being leaders in the industry, both domestically and internationally, dealing with racehorse trainers and breeders at the highest level. Lee has worked closely with us at every stage, and our collaboration and teamwork has been, and continues to be, invaluable to us. Lee is a graduate from the University of Kentucky. His colleagues, Jeff and Jared Pendleton, have helped us to significantly raise the bar within our own milling capabilities since our partnership began.

Director of Sales & Marketing at Hallway Feeds
Anthony was raised in Kentucky on Claiborne Farm where his father, Gus, was Farm Manager for 32 years. Together, we share a common goal as both companies have grown and evolved; a commitment to producing top quality feeds and offering excellent customer service, with a good helping of humour on the side. Anthony is a graduate from the University of Kentucky. We have worked with his co-workers, Steve Caddel and Megan McFaull, on technical services for breeding farms, through Gro-trac and the International Thoroughbred Growth Study, from the moment our two companies joined up.

Chief Operating Officer at Kentucky Equine Research
Eileen is a supreme multitasker and works with us in a variety of different capacities; one very important area has been with the Kentucky Equine Research software programmes, Gro-Trac and Microsteed, which were launched in the UK in 2002. She coordinated the data collection for the International Thoroughbred Growth Study alongside Saracen and Hallway. She received her B.S. in Animal Science and her MBA from the University of Kentucky.

Director of Operations at Kentucky Equine Research
Mike oversees formulation and quality assurance at Kentucky Equine Research with great skill and good humour. He graduated from the University of Guelph in Ontario, Canada, and earned his graduate certificate in Regulatory Science at Texas A&M University. Mike has had the opportunity to visit more than 50 feed mills in more than 10 countries on 5 continents, which makes him a bit of a unicorn in the world of feed milling. Many auditors wouldn't even come close to this.

Director of Nutrition (Australia) at Kentucky Equine Research
Dr. Huntington has been Director of Nutrition at KER's Melbourne office since they became established in Australia in 1999. He received his veterinary degree from Melbourne University and is an external lecturer and examiner at their Veterinary Science programme. Peter has helped us to coordinate feed for shuttling stallions and for European runners in Australia’s greatest race, The Melbourne Cup. His colleagues, Nutritionist, Clarissa Brown-Douglas, Ph.D., and David Nash, Director of Nutrition Technology, also support us with analysis of thoroughbred growth data, and formulation and product development respectively from their side of the world.
