  • Ensure clean fresh water is always available
  • Feed little and often and split the total daily feed into 2-3 meals
  • Feed by weight (kg) and not by volume (scoops)
  • Feed according to bodyweight and condition score, the type and intensity of work
  • Make any dietary changes gradually
  • Make sure you store your feed in a cool, dry and clean environment

In line with correct feed management, Saracen Horse Feeds recommend that all horses always have access to fresh clean water, are offered a chaff or forage meal 30 minutes prior to concentrate feeding and that all feeds are dampened and mixed well with chaff.

Feeding levels vary greatly from horse to horse as they are all individuals. If you would like to discuss your horses’ requirements, please contact a Saracen Horse Feeds equine specialist on +44 (0)1622 718 487 or take advantage of our free Feed Advice.
