Meet Team Saracen

Polly specialises in Thoroughbred nutrition and is involved with some of the most successful breeding farms and racing yards in the UK and Europe. She has been with the company for over 27 years, and has overseen the feeding programmes of numerous Classic winners, 'Sales Toppers' and Elite Stakes performers that have gone on to become top level stallions and broodmares in their own right during that time. Being part of the thoroughbred industry is a way of life for her, and is something she enjoys and is fascinated by in equal measure. If there is a way to help a horse with some clever nutrition that can be well managed, she will try her best to find it.

Lizzie was amongst some of the first equine nutritionists to gain registration with the Nutrition Society over 15 years ago and is known for being an equine nutritionist who can put a friendly face and uncomplicated attitude to a sometimes very confusing subject. Lizzie heads up a team of nutritionists based at the Saracen Head Office and she also provides technical support to clients not just in the UK but Europe and the Middle East. Her career highlights are many but perhaps the most favourite is being the nutritionist to the GB Dressage Team, including our Gold Medal winners. Lizzie is a keen rider and competes in dressage with her 2 horses, Ferdi and Flo.

Catherine has 19 years of experience in field-based nutrition and formulation, and has worked in Europe, the USA and Asia during that time. Her role as a Technical Nutritionist focuses on the application of evidenced based research into Saracen’s feed formulations, manufacturing processes and feeding plans. Nutrition is more than just the provision of nutrients; when used correctly, nutrients can advance performance and reduce the risk of disease.

Lucy works alongside Lizzie and Catherine, our Registered Nutritionists. Following a number of years working within the equine industry, Lucy joined the Saracen team in 2018, making the move into the Nutrition Team in 2021. With a veterinary background, she is passionate about delivering nutritional advice that will help to support the health and wellbeing of all horses. Whether it be via our helpline, feed advice form service or social media platforms, she is always on hand to help.

Amy began working with our Registered Nutritionists in December 2022 as a member of the nutrition team. She has kept horses all of her life and holds a BSc (Hons) in Applied Equine Science and Business. Amy takes great care in understanding horses individual needs and is dedicated to helping provide nutritional guidance via our helpline, feed advice form service, and social media platforms. She is always there to offer advice.

Lucy is responsible for South West England and Southern Wales. During her time with Saracen, she has developed strong relationships with her wholesalers, retailers and yards, and takes time to understand what her clients want to achieve.

She has previously worked within various competition yards, mostly with event horses from grassroots up to advanced level. It was during this time she developed a keen interest in feeding the competition horse.

She has successfully competed her own horses to BE Novice level and has represented her local riding club at the National Championships in eventing and dressage.

I bring with me years of experience within the equestrian industry from teaching and yard management to office sales, territory management, and equine specific pharmaceutical knowledge. I worked for nearly five years for Merial Animal Health both in the office and as a territory manager where I gained a wealth of experience and knowledge and a keen interest in equine nutrition when looking as gastric ulcer prevention and management as well as sports horse nutrition and the important role it plays in performance, health, and well-being. I have been with Saracen Horse feeds now for a number of years and love helping owners to achieve the results they are striving for with their horses and ponies. I currently have a 4 year old 17hh Dutch warmblood gelding who has just been backed and who I hope will turn his hoof to dressage.

Nic has over 16 years experience working within the equestrian industry. Her career started off by working as a sales assistant in a large Hertfordshire based feed merchant and continued into equine nutrition and distribution. Nic has a keen interest in equine nutrition and a passion for emphasising the importance of correct feeding and providing high quality products for all horses and ponies. With over 30 years equestrian experience, Nic has had the pleasure of owning, competing and working with many different types of horses from warmbloods and sport horses to heavy horses and currently owns 3 Clydesdales, Gharsun, Clansman and Bailey. She competes them all on the county show circuit and also competes Gharsun at BD competitions.

Kate joined the Saracen Horse Feeds team in 2015 from Dengie Horse Feeds with over 10 years of experience within the industry. Kate has a passion for eventing, falling in love with the sport after her first visit to Badminton in 1999. Kate also enjoys showing and has ridden at HOYS, Royal International and Olympia with her now veteran horse, ‘Nobelle Clover’. Kate has recently discovered a love for retrained racehorses having bought a 3yo ex-sprinter from the track in 2019. Kate hopes to train ‘Arogo’ to event and fulfil her dreams of eventing at international level.

Sarah has worked in the horse feed industry for over 16 years working with both Retailers & yards and is passionate about good quality nutrition whether you have a paddock pet or an elite competition horse. Sarah is based near Harrogate & has two horses of her own a 24 year old racehorse Stretton & a Warmblood Cross Otti (who is the horse on the cooling mix/cubes bags).

Abi has had a passion for horses since a very young age which led her to later study a BSc (Hons) Degree in Equine Performance and Business Management. After four years of working in equine field nutrition and sales management for our client base in Southeast England, Abi is now responsible for our European business development and works alongside Lizzie as a Field Nutritionist in the UK & Europe. Abi is very passionate about delivering practical feeding programmes to clients in an approachable way, solving problems and improving the health and performance of horses through nutrition.

Clare has over 20 years of extensive experience in the bloodstock and racing industry. Before joining Saracen, she spent many years feeding Saracen products on several leading UK stud farms and pre-training yards, and has a proper understanding of what results clients expect from feeding Saracen Horse Feeds. She has been with Saracen for over nine years, and also enjoys riding out in Lambourn.

Daniela works with Saracen Horse Feeds as a Thoroughbred and Sports Horse Specialist Consultant. She holds a BSc in Equine Science and Business Management and a trainer’s licence. She has spent nearly all of her life working within the thoroughbred breeding and racing industry in Germany, managing stud farms such as Gestüt Ammerland and Gestüt Görlsdorf for many years, as well as doing sales work for Blandford Bloodstock. She now lives in Normandy, in the heart of the French thoroughbred breeding industry. Her enthusiasm and commitment to providing her customers with practical and nutritional support is greatly valued.

Molly is incredibly passionate about all things Thoroughbred. She has a lifetime of experience having grown up on a National Hunt yard, spending every spare second either on the back of a racehorse or at various sales and events. Since leaving school, she has gained extensive knowledge of both the racing industry and the Thoroughbred in all its capacities. Her hands-on experience includes work riding and travelling horses abroad to race for Andrew Balding, Pupil assistant for Charlie Hills and Head Girl for Richard Hannon. Since relocating to Newmarket, Molly and her other half have started a small breeding operation with a handful of Thoroughbred mares, giving her a whole new perspective. Molly is well accustomed to the Saracen brand having fed the products to both her own horses and those under her care for several years.
