The Beauty Of Essential Balancer

Skye tucking in to her Essential Balancer!

Nutrition Advisor, Millie, found her 21 year old Sports Pony, Skye, to be feeling lethargic and missing her sparkle after being retired due to discovering she had pedal osteitis. Skye had typically been a good-doer but was lacking her usual shine and character, so Millie was looking for a low-calorie feed to provide Skye with her daily requirements of vitamins and minerals whist offering extra support to get her back to her prime self! Millie decided to put Skye onto Essential Balancer to provide with a low-calorie, complete ration to support her in her retirement! Here is the feedback Millie has given from Skyes new diet:

Skye had always been full of energy, very reactive and sharp, whilst also easily putting on weight if her feed intake is not carefully monitored. After originally being bred for pony racing, she had had a successful show jumping career in a previous home, and was just beginning showing with Millie. Over the last 18 months she had become increasingly lame in front, which led to the discovery of pedal osteitis after the appropriate testing and x-rays. This led to Skye becoming retired from schooling and showing, and becoming the occasional happy hacker. There was concern with her being out of work that she may become too sharp, but I have found the Essential Balancer has given her the perfect amount of energy to reduce the sluggishness first noticed when she became lame, whilst reducing her fizziness and reactivity when she is occasionally ridden. I never thought I would be able to have her calm enough to hack alone, but since putting her on Essential Balancer she has become the perfect sensible but forward pony!

She has always struggled with poor hoof quality previously, but due to the inclusion of 30mg/kg of biotin in Essential Balancer, her feet have never looked so good which has also led to me no longer having to feed a hoof supplement! The inclusion of omega-3 fatty acids also provides extra anti-inflammatory support for the inflammation in her pedal bones. She has also finally got back her beautiful glossy coat - all thanks to that Saracen Shine!

Essential Balancer is a cost effective, low intake pelleted feed balancer for horses and ponies. Balancers are nutrient dense and therefore only fed in small amounts, whereas traditional cubes and mixes need to be fed at higher rates to ensure that trace element levels are met. Essential Balancer is cereal-free and low in sugar and starch, making it suitable for good-doers, laminitics and horses that may be more prone to excitable, fizzy behaviours. It provides an excellent source of quality protein to support muscle tone and function as well as encouraging topline development. Bio-available vitamins and minerals are included which are more easily absorbed than traditional inorganic minerals as they are bound to a protein molecule that is more easily absorbed during digestion. These minerals can complement natural stress resistance and help the immune system, whilst improving coat bloom, and skin and hoof quality. Essential Balancer also contains the optimum inclusion of a live yeast that has been shown to help support feed and forage digestibility as well as maintaining a stable gut microflora population during times of stress, e.g. travelling, competing or sickness. These nutrients will help the horse to maintain optimum health and immune function, and encourage good coat, skin and hoof condition and quality. Essential Balancer also includes a range of micronutrients that are essential to support optimum hoof growth and quality, including calcium, chelated zinc and copper, essential amino acids lysine and methionine and the recommended amount of biotin (30mg/kg) to encourage hoof quality, growth and development.
